Would anyone categorize The Ring as a horror film? Or is it considered just a thriller? Or both?

What's the matter with you people? John Carpenter's The Thing.

This one was bouncing around in my head. But the man said pick one. So I did.
I just didn't want you to think that there was no love for The Thing.

YEAH, ANYWAY "THE THING" IS A SCI-FI MOVIE...NOT HORROR...BUT IT IS ONE OF THE BEST....JOHN CARPENTER'S BEST!

Man! i love that film, also i just heard awhile back that universal wants to ether remake or continue the story of the thing. At first i felt that it should be left alone cause it was perfect, but then i thought if they could do it right and we could have some of the same characters with some good well thought out special effects it might be good. Personally i thought the 2002 video game continuation and comic book tie in was good enough but who knows. for all you thing fans out there, go to http://www.outpost31.com for the all the latest news on any thing to do about the thing. Its a cool site the actor who played windows was posting on there awhile back. :-D

Went to go see Zombie Strippers this weekend. Not bad, doesn’t take itself very serious but at the same time it has the Key HORROR FEATURES. Robert Englund is involved so its at least decent. This is my favorite part:

I have to go with:

The Shining
Dawn of the Dead -The Original
Don't Open the Window- AKA: Let Sleeping Corpses Lie. AKA: The Living Dead at the Manchester Morgue

The last is an obscure one I saw about 30 years ago and never thought I would see it again. I found it searching the web and fortunately one source referred to it by its original name. It is a Zombie flick done by Spanish director Jorge Grau and it takes place in the English countryside. I was shocked to see that it was still a pretty darned good movie after all these years and not just "intense" for an 8-9 year old.

For me it had to be
Night of the Living Dead
The Exorcist
Halloween

I didn't realize how freaky Evil Dead was until I started scaring the crap out of my kids by doing that laugh like the woman in the floor. I had to stop that one, lol.

Have you seen Brutal Massacre. It has actors from like every scary movie in it. I saw people from American Werewolf in London, Evil Dead, Texas CM, etc etc. I'm not sure who directed this film, but it is about a washed up horror director. THINGS THAT MAKE YOU GO HMMMMM,,,,,,

I'll have to heartily disagree with you on that, The Thing is INDEED a horror film.

I have a couple of new favorites in the scary movie category. "The Devil's Chair" is a great scary movie that has the best concepts. Its one of those films thats as much psychological as it is visually scary. I can't even begin to explain the head trip I got watching this. "Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer" is new favorite for the exact opposite reason I liked The Devil's Chair". While Devil's Chair was psychologically unnerving, Jack Brooks:Monster Slayer is and over the top horror film. This film literally brings me back to the scary films of the 70's and 80's. From the story line to the Visual effects, these films are more shockers than scary. This film was just as much an action movie as it was a scary movie. PLUS it has Robert Englund. Lastly I picked up my first Blu-Ray Discs. Of course I had to buy the "Ray Harryhausen Collection". These are classics and the first scary movies my dad let me watch. 7th Voyage of Sinbad is an all time classic that I believe every body should have the pleasure of seeing at least once.

Just one? Halloween, I guess. I also enjoy Stephen King's IT, merely because I am obsessed with the novel and the film is a lot easier to digest for me than reading that 1000+ page tome every time I get a hankering for The Losers Club. Really, though, the film isn't that good, so just disregard that...
Oh, and also, Dawn of the Dead (original, of course). That comes in a very close second behind Halloween.
