which is your favorite? I love 'em all, but Masque Of The Red Death is my fave (I love how they incorporated Hop Toad into it)... (and hopefully Tomb Of Ligeia is not cut off from the poll) (damn poll restrictions)... Haunted Palace is not on the list, 'cause technically it's not Poe, no matter what the marketing people say.
Indeed I love them all as well, that was a hard one since there are two that are my absolute favs, Pit and the Pendulum and Masque of the Red Death. But went with Pit.
Masque. I think it's Corman's best film.
Price was also very good in "Tomb of Ligea". It's interesting to note such a change in style/seriousness from films like "Masque" and "Ligea" to the very comedic "The Raven". I think Corman's at his best when he takes the Poe material seriously.

Masque Of The Red Death is far superior to those others, in my opinion.
'The Pit and the Pendulum' is my fave but I do enjoy 'The Masque of Red Death' and 'The Raven' is great, too, it was awesome seeing Vincent Price, Peter Lorre, Boris Karloff and a young Jack Nicolson all in the same movie together.
Tomb of Ligeia.
I just watch it over and over. The whole "is she dead or not" was pretty suspenseful-especially with the whole hypnotism thing.
Vincent Price was so deliciously Gothic in that movie. I just love it.

Masque of the Red Death...why? Glad you asked...
I have studied and worshipped Poe  extensively (an English major).I first saw The Pit and the Pendulum (1961) in the theatre at age 5 or 6. I began to read voracioulsy at that point!
Adoring Mr. Corman for loving Poe as much as I, Masque of the Red Death was Mr. Corman's most insightful, provacative interpretation of Poe and his "gothicness" that has rarely been equalled by other diretors!
Sorry, I gush...

I think TOMB OF LIGEIA is the most sumptuously beautiful of all the Corman Poe films.
Such hard choices! I'm a big fan of "Premature Burial" and "Pit and the Pendulum," but love "Masque of the Red Death" as well.
I know it shouldn't count because it's Lovecraft, but I have to say, I absolutely LOVE "Edgar Allan Poe's The Haunted Palace" which ain't Poe at ALL, but still has one of my favorite Vincent Price-with-Roger Corman performances in it.
Just a great bunch of movies. Heard a great story from Lou Arkoff once about the fact that Price didn't get paid all that much for any of these movies really, but didn't mind as he just loved being a star in the pictures. His real fortune came from the five cookbooks he wrote, the royalties of which were HUGE.
