That was hard but I'm going with White Zombie, both him and Karloff were excellent in that film. A great story and ending. Lugosi was incredible IMO.

I agree- Lugosi is wonderful in White Zombie... I just watched that again the night before... my girlfriend had never seen it before, and she thought it was great, too... I LOVE the sets! THEY'RE HUGE... and the cemetary scenes are creepy as all get out... on that big hill...

Indeed the sets were massive, the good ol'dys when studios invested in having quality sets.

-"The Cryptkeeper"

Karloff was not in White Zombie. Perhaps you're thinking of The Black Cat.

I chose Son of Frankenstein because Bela had a rare chance to exhibit a sense of humor as Ygor. I love when he coughs all over the Burgomeister.

Many excellent choices, but I went with "Dracula" and "White Zombie" as a very close second (almost a tie).

The Black Cat hands down! Heck, Bela's character's name in that is where my name on here comes from. Also great in the Raven. And White Zombie....and amazing in Dracula etc etc etc

I'm batty for vampires- why? Bela Lugosi in Draula

Bela's Romanian accent and the subsequent strange English phonetics, his long sensuous fingers, his regal bearing...transported me to a believable, if wickedly, wonderful place.

I've never left, really.

I just watched "The Black Cat". I can't get enough of him. He and old Uncle Boris brought alot out of each other.
We should have a pol on who's performances were better in the movies they were in together!

AWWwww,..My favorite Bela film isn't on the list ! I liked Phantom Ship:The Mystery of the Mary Celeste most of all. A huge, bushy haired Bela, looking about as menacing as I ever saw him ! That, and I'm a sucker for old horror at sea films.

Bela Lugosi was indeed a very, very cool guy, who got dumped on repeatedly, and kept on going. To me, always one of the more tragic of the Hollywood stories.
